Cast Iron Dutch Oven, (What's this?) This item is quality construction and was delivered within 4 days of ordering in contrast to the estimated delivery date.
Solid, (What's this?) This is a nice looking, probably indestructible Dutch Oven. It is very heavy but that's what I wanted. It has a nice fitting lid and solid handles. I found no rust on this product as some others experienced. The only con I have is that on my first use it left a slightly black residue in the soup I made. I am pleased with this product overall.
Dutch Oven, (What's this?) Dutch oven came as promised, actually very quickly. It is the same brand they carry at Cracker Barrel but much more reasonably priced. This will last forever. Very well made.
Another gem!, (What's this?) This is my fourth piece from Lodge. Once again, I am very satisfied. Because this one is deep, I had to excercise more care seasoning it vs. my skillets.
These utilitarian, long lasting pieces of cookware will never win any beauty contests. But if you want something that is low cost and cooks very well, but this Dutch oven.
As an added benefit, the cover fits my 10 inch Lodge skillet.
As usual, you have have to take care keeping it dry and well oiled after cooking and cleaning.
My first dish was an awesome broccoli rabe with garlic and Smart Balance butter. This was made on the range top. The next dish was a turkey breast that was seared on the range top, and then braised in the oven with some veggies. It is a very versatile pot.
A quick tip to get you started..., (What's this?) These cast iron pots are the greatest thing in my kitchen. No need to ever buy an expensive teflon-anodized-fancy-whatchamacallit ever again! The best part is that these pots only get better with time!
Even though these pots come pre-seasoned, I've found a trick that I use on my new cast iron pots to get them seasoned to perfection: When you get your new pot, the first thing you should cook with it is some fried chicken. Fill it up about a third of the way with vegetable oil, heat the oil to 350 degrees, and start frying. After dinner, pour out the oil, and wipe out (do NOT wash) the excess oil with a paper towel. Then, just leave the pot as is until the next time you use it. You can put the lid on, but leave it slightly ajar for ventilation. Before the next use, you can rinse it out and clean with a soft bristled brush and water only.
Lodge Dutch Oven, (What's this?) This product is more then I even expected. I ended up getting a smaller one also and love them both. I can't believe how wonderful our meals turn out in them. What was I thinking not getting it earlier. I am also back using my cast iron fry pans...
Solid as cast iron, (What's this?)
Lodge dutch oven, (What's this?) I ordered this & a fry pan, both with lids---LOVE them. I used to have cast iron pans, but got rid of them. I LOVE fried chicken in the fry pan--it's the best----I use a little olive oil, white wheat flour & boneless skinless---the taste brings back childhood memories.
Cast Iron back in my life!!, (What's this?)
Dutch Oven, (What's this?) It was in great condition and just what I expected. I would purchase from Amazon again and might even get a collection of cast iron cookware. This particular one was a gift but I already have one of my own and use it often.
