Most used pot in our collection, This pot came free with another all-clad set we got. Initially thought that we wouldn't have much use for it, turned out we were wrong. As long as it could hold the food that we are cooking we will cook in it. The non-stick surface is the best one that we have used.
for those reviews worried about their non-stick coating... here's an excerpt from their website:
"All-Clad Nonstick Cookware is a great product for cooking sticky foods like eggs, potatoes, or rice, and for those individuals who want to avoid using additional fat or oil. All-Clad's nonstick surfaces do not have harmful PFOA gases.
Pack Oven, (What's this?) I purchased the Dutch Oven for packing, the objective was to use it on coals and on a wood camp stove. There were several concerns about durability, and if a light pot would be adequate for backing on coals. My first observation was that the dutch oven is light enough for backpacking and definately no problem in mule or llama panniers.
Eagerly, I tested it with charcoal on the patio for baking bread. The lid is rounded with a lip, it held charcoal better than I expected, and it is easy for ashes to spill into the food. It baked the bread perfectly, it was brown on top, cooked through out, and did not stick, and with care no ashes fell onto the bread.
I am very happy with this Dutch Oven, and look forward to many camp meals that will be cooked in it.
Good pot but not durable, (What's this?) I have many All-Clad products including a set of the original anodized aluminum over stainless steel that is still in very good shape. Quality is usually extraordinary.
This Dutch Oven cooks evenly and heats up quickly. Purchasers should realize that it has integral aluminum handles that heat up which means that you must use the included oven mitts.
This is the only non-stick pot that I own (which is why I purchased it). The coating is inside and outside for easy cleaning. I loved it for three months. Then I noticed a very small area on the inside bottom where the non-stick coating had worn off. Three months later and the worn area is spreading like a rash. This in spite of the fact that I have been exceptionally careful. No metal has ever been anywhere near the inside of the pot (only nylon utensils) and I have cleaned this exclusively with a sponge. No harsh cleansers.
This is disappointing because it is such a great pot, particularly for the money.
Is this meant to be disposable?, I bought this pot a few weeks ago. All I made were two soups over medium heat on my gas stove. The non stick surface started to bubble already! In both recipes, there has never been anything with high acidity and what not that might have bothered the surface. Yes, of course I used very mild dish detergent with no scent, no chemical and no color. My other non stick pot is still like new even though I've used it almost everyday for the past 5 years.
All Clad Cast Aluminum Dutch Oven, (What's this?) The All Clad Cast Aluminum Dutch Oven is a superb and must have in your kitchen arsenal; I have used it to cook meats and it does it to perfection. I would highly recommend having one, I bought two.
My go to pot!, (What's this?) Wow, I love this pot. I use it for everything. I initially wanted an enameled cast iron pot for braising but decided to try this first to see if I liked it and I love it! I have used it to make beef burgundy, red beans and rice, jambalaya, you name it. Handles and lid do get hot therefore it is worth the extra money for the oven mitts.
If you love to cook, you will love this All Clad Dutch Oven!, (What's this?) As soon as my All-Clad 5-1/2 qt dutch oven arrived, I opened it, washed it and began my Italian pasta sauce. I started by searing 3 country ribs, then removing and starting the sauce.
easy cooking, (What's this?) The price caught my eye, we like pot roasts and simmering spaghetti sauce. This is a perfect size for 2 or 3. The non-stick coating makes for easy cleanup.
I love this pot!, I am a big lover of LeCreuset and have many of their pots - I also have many All Clad pots. When I saw this pot on SurLa Table for 39.99 free shipping - I thought I'd give it a try. I was leary when I got it - very light and wondered how it would compete with the cast iron. Yesterday, I made pot roast INCREDIBLE results. Today, pulled pork - in the oven - same incredible results. The pot is light, non-stick, cleans easily and very very nicely priced. Don't have to kill myself lugging the huge LeCreuset anymore - for small roasts - this will be my go-to pot. Going to order another now for my sister-in-law who just had her kitchen remodeled. Highly highly recommend.
Excellent and durable., I read a couple of reviews that say this pot isn't durable which prompted me to comment. I have had this Dutch oven since All-Clad started making it. I paid about $150 for it then which was maybe 6 years ago. I have the gratin pan just like it as well as the entire All-Clad Copper Core line. This is my "go to" pot. I use it many times per week. I put this through the dishwasher every time I get done using it and this pot is still just as it was the day I bought it. I have even been known to stir food in it using a metal spoon, albeit an All-Clad metal spoon.
